Punchlist began as a side project by the former CEO of Punchlist. Initially, Nic wasn’t part of the team but joined in 2021 when they decided to fully commit to the project. Punchlist quickly gained traction, particularly after joining Techstars Atlanta, which facilitated their connection with Marketwake. Initially targeted at small agencies and freelancers, Punchlist aimed to address the challenges in the final stages of projects, particularly in the QA process.
Brooke was fascinated by Punchlist’s versatility and saw its potential as a centralized hub for collaboration. The acquisition aimed to streamline communication and feedback processes, consolidating everything into one platform. One of the first challenges post-acquisition was revamping the pricing structure, which originally consisted of a freemium model with a single $99 per month option. The new pricing structure now caters to a broader range of users, from freelancers to large enterprises, ensuring that every user has a suitable plan.
The introduction of webhooks was a significant update post-acquisition. Despite having numerous integrations with project management tools, there were requests for more flexibility. Webhooks allow developers to create custom integrations, significantly expanding Punchlist’s usability and integration potential. This move aligns with the broader trend in SaaS towards seamless integration, reducing friction, and enhancing user experience.
Another major update was the reconfiguration of the Punchlist user dashboard. This update aimed to make it easier for users to manage tasks, assignments, notifications, and feedback without relying on multiple platforms. The new dashboard offers a balanced experience, catering to both solopreneurs, who can use it as a full project management tool, and larger businesses, where it supplements existing systems.
